We believe informed citizens, respectful engagement, and constructive action create a democracy that works for everyone.
How to Harvest Fear
On March 18, we had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Sandra Solano. It was a conversation that left a lasting impression on everyone in the room.
Dr. Solano shared her personal experience growing up in Colombia during a time when democratic freedoms were replaced by government control, and often justified in the name of safety. She described how dissent was labeled as disloyalty, how media was discredited, and how ordinary people (especially the most vulnerable in the population) paid the highest price. Her message was not abstract. It was a lived experience.
It was a powerful reminder of why civic awareness and engagement matter. These discussions are not about fear. They are about understanding, perspective, and the responsibility we all share in sustaining a healthy democracy. We hope to see you at future events.
Mark your calendar and join New Albany for Democracy at the next No Kings event as we come together to affirm that power belongs to the people. We're organizing, planning, and preparing for our community. Show up, stand up, and be part of a community committed to protecting democratic values for everyone.
